Sketch Food and Wine
We visited Sketch Food and Wine this past Saturday before heading downtown for a night of drinks. It is located on Broadway next El Diablo on First and Broadway. The owners of Sketch, Jesse Morreale and Sean Yontz actually own El Diablo and a few other places around town including Rockbar and La Rumba.
Sketch has been around for about 3 years and this is our first time visiting it. We love El Diablo so we thought we would have their sister restaurant a chance.
Our first thought of the place is that it is small, and well a wine bar. I guess I was just expecting something a little more lively like El Diablo or Rockbar. It is not necessary a bad thing, but more of a older crowd that wants to have a quiet dinner with some wine. I hear if you go after 9 on the weekend the place can get a little crazy.

The menu is Italian, and they do it as well as any other place in town. I wanted to keep it simple so I went with the classic, Spaghetti and Meatballs. (This is always our judge of a good Italian restaurant; if you can’t get this right, you probably are going to fail at everything else.) Some places attempt to overdo it; adding ingredients that have no place on the dish. Sketch kept it simple; it was red sauce with spaghetti and a generous portion of meatballs. I really enjoyed it and next time I visit I will be a little more adventurous. One of my complaints is that the menu is a little small; I would like to see a larger selection. Prices were reasonable; most entrees were around $15 to $20.
The wine selection is enormous and something I will write about in another post.
They are always doing different events throughout the week like Wine Tasting and Holiday Parties. Go to their facebook for upcoming events.
They are open 7 days a week; Monday to Friday 2pm-2am and Saturday and Sunday 11am-2am.
